ABSTRACT
Each year a little more information on Russian social security programs becomes available. Material on numbers of beneficiaries, expenditures, and other items enabling us to evaluate program performance better, is however, still not easy to compile. Readers doubtless will disagree with some of the statements and judgments in the accompanying article. Nevertheless, it sheds more light on programs about which little information (in English) is available.
