ABSTRACT
The article discusses the 2010 American College of Health care Executives annual survey, which revealed that financial challenges are the top concerns among hospital leaders. It mentions the strategies used to attain financial targets at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) in Chicago, Illinois, a Magnet® organization, and explains the structure of an evidenced-based budget. The use of a weekly monitoring tool for measuring performance to targets at the NMH is also highlighted.
