The article discusses the factors that contributed to the successful transformation of sewage works into energy generating plants in the Netherlands that water companies in Great Britain should imitate. Collaboration between water companies and between water and waste sectors and the government played a key role in the Dutch rebranding. The Dutch government's long-term plan resulted to full life-cycle efficiencies. Another factor is the government's commitment to research and development.
