The article discusses aspects of permeability measurements in organic coatings. It explains that mechanism of permeability, which is a measure of the ability of a solid to be permeated, involves both solution and diffusion in which measurements must be done with uniform films or sheets. It states that the rate of permeability depends on film thickness and E96 and D1653 are the two test methods used to test permeability in coatings industry.
