ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a survey of the smoking habits of preclinical and clinical students at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London, England in October 1976. The questionnaire sent to 475 students were answered by 189 men, 216 women and eight students who failed to state their gender. Results showed that 89 of the respondents were smokers and 287 were non-smokers. The decline in incidence of smoking in medical students is said to be similar to the case of professionals.
