ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study which noted the prediction of risk for thromboembolism using 2 risk stratification scales in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who were not prescribed vitamin K antagonists or heparins. The study was conducted by researcher J.B. Olesen and colleagues, and was published in a 2011 issue of the "British Medical Journal." The study revealed that CHA2DS2-VASc had better results than CHADS2 in predicting risk for thromboembolism in patients with AF.
