ABSTRACT
The article reports on a study which noted whether rifaximin relieves symptoms in patients with the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) without constipation. The study was conducted by researcher M. Pimentel and his colleagues, and was published in a 2011 issue of the "New England Journal of Medicine." The study revealed that rifaximin did better than placebo for relief of global IBS symptoms and IBS-related bloating.
