ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) signed by U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Prague, Czech Republic in April 2010. It explains minimum deterrence restricting U.S. and Russian arsenals to a maximum of 1,000 deployed arms. It mentions four types of variables in classifying nuclear strategies which are political and military goals, details of nuclear targeting plans, numbers of weapons, and command systems of nuclear forces.
