ABSTRACT
The article discusses the impact of the U.S. Food Safety and Modernization Act on food and pharmaceutical companies. It notes the key principle of the legislation which is to prioritize efforts to prevent food contamination and more rigid inspections across the supply chain. The article also highlights industry practices for protecting the safety of drugs and perishable food including the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology by Intelleflex and the ColdLink temperature monitoring system for refrigerated trailers.
