ABSTRACT
The article discusses the political power shared by U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell is said to have established Obama's presidential election defeat in 2012 as his highest priority. The article says that the political relationship between Obama and McConnell is likely to be the most important one in shaping events in 2011 and beyond. The legislative power that McConnell will wield is explained in terms of the number of seats that Republicans hold in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
