ABSTRACT
The article looks at a January 2011 shooting spree in Tucson, Arizona, which left six dead, and left U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded. The mental health of suspected shooter Jared Loughner is questioned, and it is suggested that he may suffer from schizophrenia. Interaction between Loughner and Giffords at a 2007 constituents' meeting is discussed. The author comments on several victims of the shooting, including nine-year-old Christina Green, great-grandmother Phyllis Schneck, and former construction worker Dorwan Stoddard, who died shielding his wife from bullets.
