ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's views on the book "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" by Amy Chua from the perspective of a parent and partner in an interethnic marriage. The author talks about his daughter who is six years old, lives in Shanghai, and is bilingual in Mandarin and English languages. How the child is educated and how much the parents participate her education are discussed. The author concludes that Chua's discipline is extreme even by Chinese standards for parenting, that his daughter's childhood is normal, and that he and his Chinese wife are normal parents.
