ABSTRACT
When professor Marvin Jolson, past editor of the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management (JPSSM) , distributed a mailing to members of the American Marketing Association in November 1984, he acknowledged that one of his greatest rewards had been the opportunity to provide students of personal selling and sales management with an important means of keeping abreast of the latest research and essays in the world of selling. His cogent message delineated the valuable contribution that JPSSM is making in the classroom. Students are observing that entry-level job opportunities are dominated by positions involving various forms, of personal selling and are becoming more aware of the growing professionalism and benefits of a sales career. As professor of marketing specializing in sales and sales management, the Jolson has been searching for ways to make the class more realistic and practical.
