ABSTRACT
Studies of audiovisual in Brazil have favored and bolstered the solid place of distinctions between cinema and television. This research makes a review of this process of straying away from medias, considering the dispute, the positions of those involved and negotiations that went through the history of the national audiovisual. Although distinctly separate, there have been major points of contact between film and television in the country, which in 2000 will be stimulated for audiovisual industry towards global trend of cultural convergence. The national audiovisual will transit between a contemporary historical continuities and international trends, indicating a process of reorganization of the field in which the boundaries and historically places move.
