ABSTRACT
The author discusses a survey which shows that only one in five organizations or businesses is prepared to cope with the sudden loss of key leaders. Risks taken by companies in failing to create a management succession plan are described, such as the risk that the organization's external brand perception may be compromised. The importance of mobilizing all employees to reach goals and planning for a smooth management succession is addressed. The steps to creating a sound succession plan are also presented.
