Describes a method for probing the confined alpha particle velocity distribution function in a fusion plasma by exciting and scattering from a lower hybrid wave. Advantages of a low frequency window four wave mixing process; Excitation of a longitudinal beat wave in the plasma; Damping of the beat wave in an assumed collisionless plasma.

Recent results show that drift waves can be synchronized by spatio-temporal driver signals [1, 2]. They show that a spatio-temporal driver signal allows to drive drift modes as soon as the driver signal is spatio-temporally resonant with the drift mode. This paper reports about experimental...

An extension of the alpha channeling effect to supersonically rotating mirrors shows that the rotation itself can be driven using alpha particle energy. Alpha channeling uses radiofrequency waves to remove alpha particles collisionlessly at low energy. It is shown that stationary magnetic fields...

The generation of zonal flows and zonal fields by finite β drift waves in plasmas with finite ion temperature Ti is investigated. This work extends our earlier work with zero ion temperature. The growth rate of the zonal flow and field is enhanced by finite Ti effects. This leads to a...
