ABSTRACT
The article reports that CableVision Systems Corp. is to spin off its programming unit, Rainbow Media Holdings, as a separate entity called AMC Networks in the U.S. The move is considered to make Cablevision a pure-play cable operator and unlock the value of AMC network. Media analyst David Joyce says that prospects of an outright sale will boost AMC once it separates from Cablevision. The spin off will make Charles Dolan as executive chairman and Josh Sapan as president of the new entity.
