ABSTRACT
The article examines why the Texas economy is flourishing despite the U.S. recession. According to the author, 37 percent of the net new jobs in the U.S. since 2009 were created in Texas. The author reports that Texas governor and Republican Party presidential candidate Rick Perry is crediting the state's success to his conservative and pro-business policies.
