ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the implementation of a wide area network (WAN) infrastructure at Steak 'n Shake, one of the oldest restaurant chains in the U.S. It states that a Progressive Software point-of-sale (POS) system is one of the components which was installed at all corporately owned restaurants of Steak 'n Shake. It mentions that most operators were driven in the direction of implementing a WAN, whether in employee training, labor scheduling, and employee retention.
