Describes a Faraday-type magnetometer in which the magnetic force is measured capacitively by monitoring the displacement of a spring-suspended quartz sample holder. Use of a double gradient coil in order to compensate the force on the empty sample holder; Ultimate sensitivity of the magnetometer.
