ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Battle of the Reichswald, part of Operation Veritable, a World War II campaign of British and Canadian armed forces in Germany from February 8-March 11, 1945. Tactical issues contribution to the extremely high number of casualties suffered by both opposing armies are discussed, including the high density of British and Canadian forces in a relatively small area, and the flooding of terrain through the destruction of dams by German forces.
