Touch Aids Brain Machines

The article presents a study on the improvement of brain-machine interface performance through additional kinesthetic and tactile sensation. It states that the study used two rhesus monkeys implanted with microelectrode arrays which moved a brain-machine interface to move a cursor. It reveals that the performance of the monkeys improved by 40% with combined visual and kinesthetic feedback compared to the visual only condition and that neurons became more sensitive in the combined condition.
