ABSTRACT
The author talks about her detention in Syria and Iran for spying charges and the support she received from the Nieman Foundation. She cites that she thought about sharing the stories of young people being tortured in Syria during her stay at a detention center there for three days. She notes that she felt alone while detained and was surprised to learned about the support from her fellow journalists upon her release. She expresses gratitude to her fellow journalists and the Nieman Foundation.
