The article focuses on the benefits of using Cable Television Laboratories Inc. or CableLab's Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) specification (spec) to the cable industry in the U.S. The CCAP was created due to the effort of bringing Comcast Corp.'s Converged Multiservice Access Platform (CMAP) spec with Time Warner Cable Inc.'s Converged Edge Services Access Router (CESAR) spec together. The CCAP can integrate functions of broadcast and narrowcast quadrature amplitude modulation (QAMs).
