ABSTRACT
The article summarizes arguments made for and against target A1C individualization during a debate at the 3rd World Congress on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy). As of 2011, over 280 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes worldwide, with projected increase of 438 million by 2030. Early diagnosis and active intervention for maintaining glycemic control is a therapeutic approach for people with diabetes. Inappropriate individualization of glycemic targets lead to poor glycemic management.
