ABSTRACT
An introduction is presented in which the editor discusses various reports within the issue on topics including the results of a survey reporting on the hospital leaders who expect increased acute care mergers and acquisitions in 2011, on the author's advise about a successful and sustainable affiliation, and on the reflection about the impact of the process on the organizations.
