ABSTRACT
The article focuses on role of mass notification system in ensuring student safety during a life-threatening emergency. It says that the Duke University tested its DukeALERT mass notification system, which involved the sounding of outdoor sirens and the activation of a web site. It mentions that a fiber optic network and voice command center were installed at the Kutztown University in Kutzon, Pennsylvania that allowed the sending of messages to a group of buildings or select buildings.
