ABSTRACT
The article reports on the emerging resistance to oseltamivir, a neuraminidase inhibitor used for treatment of H1N1 influenza. It states that people at-risk for severe influenza illness must receive immunization to prevent the occurrence of disease. It says that if patients do not show clinical improvement despite first-line antiviral treatment, influenza testing must be repeated through reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction to test the patients' resistance to antiviral agents.
