ABSTRACT
The article reports on the move of the California State Board of Education to adopt 33 of 35 reading and language textbooks which created a list of textbook publishers for schools to begin purchasing in 2009. The state is the largest textbook adoption opportunity with majority of submissions came from publishers such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co. and McGraw-Hill Book Co. Meanwhile, the California Math Council develops a mathematics database to evaluate students and staff's needs.
