ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the early childhood reading programs of Pearson PLC which were considered as the most widely used among the local education agencies in the U.S. that were given the three-year million dollars federal Early Reading First (ERF) grants in 2008. These agencies using Pearson's programs accounted for 42.4% of ERF grant funding. North Dakota Department of Public Instruction received the largest ERF grant for the year with Pearson's Opening the World of Learning (OWLS) program.
