ABSTRACT
The article presents a study examining the diagnostic capability of automated methods VITEK and PHOENIX systems to detece high-level gentamicin-resistant Enterococcus faecium. It notes that the study indicated that some of the strains with aac-aph gene reported as susceptible by the two methods. It proposes that the concentration used by the methods to detect gentamicin-resistant should be reviewed.
