ABSTRACT
The article presents a hospital-based study that examines the diagnostic performance and client preference for OraQuick HIV-1/2 assay from OraSure Technologies Inc., which is a test to detect antibodies to HIV-1 and -2 in gingival secretions and blood. It notes that the study showed a good diagnostic accuracy of the method on sputum. It concludes that the Oraquick test may be useful for conducting HIV surveillance in possible co-infected tuberculosis (TB) patients on sputum specimens collected.
