ABSTRACT
The article reports on the blanket retransmission consent deal of National Broadcasting Co. Inc. (NBC) for its affiliate stations announced in May 2011. It says that the agreement was first reached under the NBCUniversal Media LLC joint venture controlled by Comcast Corp. and would bestow proxy power to the network in retransmission talks. Comcast executive vice president (EVP) David Cohen said at a May 18, 2011 event in Washington, D.C. that the proposal will act as a template for the industry.
