ABSTRACT
Objective: to assess the quality of life of healthcare professionals of the Clinics Hospital of Unicamp in its social, psychological, physical, and environmental dimensions. The scores are compared according to demographic and clinical characteristics. Method: cross-sectional study of 116 healthcare professionals, aged over 18 years, working in the morning and afternoon shifts, under a formal contract, who were informed about the research and its ethical aspects, as well as the application of the questionnaire "The World Health Organization Quality of Life." This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Faculdade de Ciências Medicas of Unicamp under the Protocol 524/2008. Results: the mean age was 35.0 years. Predominantly female subjects (78.8%). The prevalent job was Nursing Technicians (51.4%). Of these, 44.8% were married. With regard to health, 80.0% rated it as good. The absence of health problems achieved 62.9%. The mean domain scores of WHOQOL-bref was physical domain, 68.1 (SD: 12.9). The psychological domain 63.7 (SD = 12.8). The environmental domain and the social relationships domain obtained 55.2 (SD: 11.4) and 59.6 (SD: 17.2), respectively. Conclusion: only in the category current health status there was a statistical difference, which was observed only in the physical domain. The use of the questionnaire can be an effective way to monitor and detect changes in the healthcare professionals' quality of life.
