The article reports that the Wisconsin Credit Union League will fight the provision on the state's budget bill that allows a direct conversion of a credit union charter to a banking charter. According to League president and chief executive officer (CEO) Brett Thompson, the provision is not necessary and inadequate in terms of the member-owners of the credit union. Thompson also states that the direct-conversion provision lacks public hearing and notice to the credit union industry in Wisconsin.
