ABSTRACT
The article discusses the value of analytics to make sense of huge amounts of data. It states that development of the smart grid, while useful in integrating different industries and functions, could inundate utilities companies and others with a deluge of information. To address this, it suggests that the use of analytics by other industries, such as those involved in information technology, could be put to use, in order to make sense of such data. These would include areas such as descriptive analytics, visualization and predictive modeling.
