ABSTRACT
The article discusses Britain's need to upgrade its telecommunications infrastructure, and to combine different technologies to create an effective information grid. It states that as the pace of technology quickens, the country's outdated infrastructure becomes more apparent, and the cost of having to constantly upgrade takes a toll on existing resources. To address this, it suggests using existing technology for other uses, such as broadband spectrum for smart meter applications, and radio networks to addres communication interruptions, among others.
