ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the clinical guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) developed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). The authors stress the role of the guidelines in helping health care personnel manage their CHF patients. They add that the guidelines cover the pharmacological therapy, monitoring and rehabilitation of CHF patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction and preserved ejection fraction. The palliative care of CHF patients and end of life issues are also discussed.
