The article discusses how to determine the optimum antenna height for high frequency (HF) bands. Factors that determine optimum antenna height are given which include frequency, polarization and arrival angle from the ionosphere. It relates the processes to be undertaken in determining antenna height which begins with identifying the expected angles of arrival from DX or long distance communication stations. It is concluded that the optimum antenna height is 1.5 to 1.6 wavelengths for any single band.
