ABSTRACT
The article reports on the Xayaburi hydropower dam which remains susceptible to political influence. As stated, the hydropower project in Laos provides a significant promotion to economic growth and boost development efforts through job creations for the poor and reducing poverty in the country. It notes that the delay plans of the project raised concerns on its severe environmental effect that will affect fisheries and rice production in the lower areas of the Mekong River.
