ABSTRACT
The article examines the views of economist and social philosopher John Kenneth Galbraith as expressed in his essay entitled "The Use and Excuses for Affluence." Galbraith discusses social history from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. His analysis of the U.S. economy during the industrial revolution is presented. His explanation of the current economic conditions in the U.S. is also presented.
