July 1976
National Review;7/23/1976, Vol. 28 Issue 27, p774
The article reflects on the relations between the U.S. Catholic Church, Jews and liberals as of 1976. It describes how the Catholic Church, under the spirit of ecumenism, tended to play down that which had been distinctive about Catholicism. It explores ways in which the Catholic Church attempted to achieve and expand rapprochement with the Jews. It also presents the observations of Father Andrew Greeley on the lack of support from Jewish organizations for the position of the Catholic Church on abortion. It covers the criticisms of the Catholic Church against liberals.
