ABSTRACT
The article presents information on various social and political developments in the United States. It is reported that aides of U.S. President Jimmy Carter are lobbying against any cuts in the Social Security taxes. They argue that the U.S. government must have that revenue if the administration is to bring in a $30-billion deficit budget. It is estimated by the U.S. intelligence that the Soviet Union is spending $3 billion a year in its support to Cuba.
