This article reports on the launch of a rescue plan by the Slovakan government for state-owned railway companies Zeleznice Slovenskej republiky (ZSR), Zeleznicna spolocnost' Slovensko (ZSSK) and ZSSK Cargo. The Ministry of Transport developed the rescue plan to deal with the unsustainable situation of the companies. Under the plan, thousands of employees will be laid off and investments will be cut.
