ABSTRACT
The article reports on the various approaches taken by U.S. states to revamping their roles in healthcare and control costs. A bill was passed in Vermont that puts the state on the path toward single-payer coverage, while Florida plans to transfer roughly all 2.9 million Medicaid recipients into managed care in 2012. The Vermont Chamber of Commerce has confirmed that it rejects a tax on employers.
