Butt Out, Your Honors

August 1976
National Review;8/6/1976, Vol. 28 Issue 29, p832
The article refutes a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the right of a mother to have an abortion. The ruling rejected a Missouri law whose provisions required spousal and parental consent for married women and single girls, respectively. In the first instance, the decision of the Court unilaterally gave the power to elect between giving birth and aborting to the woman. The Court's argument that all rights originate in the state is fallacious on the account that the state recognizes many prerogatives it may not claim for itself.
