ABSTRACT
The article presents news briefs related to social and political developments in the United States. Senator James Allen asked for a congressional investigation against the United Nations (UN), pointing out that the U.S. has contributed $47 billion to the UN Treasury over the years. The U.S. House Ethics Committee has voted 7 to 2 to investigate charges that Representative Michael Harrington leaked classified material to the media after signing an oath that he would not do so. Anti-war activist Philip Berrigan failed to turn up in court to answer charges of defacing military planes.
