ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on social and political issues around the world as of March 21, 1980. The problem of French separatism and a divided country has not diminished even in the victory of Pierre Trudeau in the Canadian elections. West German Finance Minister Hans Matthoefer aims to use money from Western treasuries to save the economy of Turkey from bankruptcy. In an effort to modernize its defenses, the Swiss government plans to re-equip its armed forces with Tiger fighter planes from the U.S. and anti-aircraft missiles from Great Britain.
