ABSTRACT
The article comments on the plan of former hairdresser Marilyn Barnett to file a lawsuit against professional tennis player Billy Jean King based on their seven-year lesbian relationship. It compares the controversy with the homosexual relationship case involving Lee Marvin. It explains the common law under which such cases are covered. It argues against the property settlement preferred by Barnett. It examines the implications of the case should it be considered as legal precedent. It discusses the concept of marriage as a special legal status.
