ABSTRACT
The article presents a study which determines the effectiveness of the University of the Philippines Diliman's Web Online Public Access Catalog (Web OPAC) in Quezon City, Philippines. It outlines the method of the study, which surveys freshmen students enrolled in Chemistry who have used the system. It notes the result of the study which indicates that users did not produce a hit from the Web OPAC despite that it matches exactly with the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) term. It also recommends the school to familiarize the freshmen students with the use of the Web OPAC and subject searching during the library orientation.
